The Ship Reaper

It appears that the powers that be have finally had enough of the pillaging caused by the independent pirates in the ocean waters. Or perhaps they are tired of not being able to take as much bounty with their own pirating operations. In any case, the rewards for sinking, capturing, or otherwise causing the demise to independent merchant vessels such as the Reaper have been increased. Political authorities have waged an out right war on pirates and have sent their navies and armadas off in search of them with the only orders being to use whatever means necessary to end our efforts.

Captain Draven knew that the only way independent pirates would be able to survive this war was to work together but this was not the pirate way and no Captain of a ship in these waters was about to fall under the command of another person especially one such as Draven the Dark Hearted. That is, all except for one and for accepting the treaty Draven was ridiculed by all other Captains in the fleet. After all the Fire of the Sea was a ship unheard of in these waters and even more so she was commanded by an Elf!

Draven and his crew had formulated a plan to use the Fire of the Sea and it's extremely high draft created by the unique building techniques of the Elves to lay a trap. Parne and Draven sailed to a secluded island that was right in the path of the approaching convoy of ships. The Reaper was well known and would be considered a high prize for the fleet and would be a hard target to resist. She was anchored in a the only deep water on the island's largest cove, and then all the crew save but a few to man the guns went ashore.

On shore, the half the remaining crew setup cannons and took positions to make retreat from the cove an impossibility. The other half made way across the island and joined up with Parne's ship.

Two days passed in waiting.

Then the fleet passed the cove, turned hard, and circled back entering. There was barely room for the 3 ships to enter, and not nearly enough to turn and get full agust for a true volley of cannons but they managed to attack the Reaper with so much combined firepower that she was set ablaze. The Reaper's guns let loose in her one and only volley that signaled the start of the engagement. Hearing the roar of the cannons, Parne's Fire immediately raised anchor and headed for the cove towing behind it every dingy and longboat filled with men that it could.

The decrease in draft of Parne's ship was complimented by an increase in speed and agility in movement; upon entering the cove she charged fast towards the stern of the 3 ships and cut hard to starboard nearly hitting one of the attacking ships. The Crew on deck cut the ropes towing the smaller boats and the trap was fully sprung.

The Fire of the Sea, being so light on the draft easily sailed around the shallow waters and took a tactical position releasing a volley of cannons while the crew in the smaller boats began to board the attacker's ships.

Realizing this was a trap, one ship made way for the exit but was overcome by the cannon fire from the hillside and was sent to the bottom. The other two were eventually overcome and possession of them turned over to Captain Draven who quickly realized that he now had his own fleet of ships and quickly promoted himself to Admiral.

The Admiral then appointed his First Mate Ravenna, Captain of one of the ships who re-named her the Fallen Angel. He reserved appointing a Captain of the other till a later time; commanding over it himself for now.

Together the three ships terrorize the waters and strike fear in the hearts of all men, even pirates who fear that they will sooner or later have to join the fleet called the Apocalypse of the White SunTide  under Admiral Draven, the Dark Hearted.
